The supply of numeric .com domains of a given length is fixed and easy to count:

Short numeric .coms through five digits have long been fully registered, and six-digit names were swept up in large numbers during the numeric-domain boom driven by Chinese buyers in the mid-2010s. Once every combination is owned, the only way to get one is to buy it from someone — which is what turns a registration fee into a market price.

Why numbers work as brands

• Cross-language: 152222 is understood in Lucknow, Montréal and Shanghai alike; letters must be transliterated.
• Typing: numbers are easy on a phone keypad and avoid spelling mistakes.
• Sound-alikes: in Chinese, numbers can spell phrases — 520 resembles "I love you", 51 "I want", 168 "prosperity all the way".

China is full of them: 163.com (NetEase's mail and portal), 58.com (classifieds), 1688.com (Alibaba's wholesale marketplace, where 1688 sounds like "prosperity all the way") and 12306.cn (the national rail ticketing site, matching its phone hotline). Elsewhere, brands like 7-Eleven, Forever 21 and 3M show numbers can be memorable everywhere.

How buyers judge a numeric domain

1. Length — shorter is scarcer.
2. Extension — .com commands the strongest premium.
3. Pattern — repdigits (888888), runs (152222), mirrors (123321) and sequences beat random strings. Check with our pattern score.
4. Cultural digits — 8s and 6s attract Chinese buyers; 4s usually reduce appeal there.
5. Meaning — a phone hotline, a postal code, a year or a sound-alike phrase can add a buyer with a reason.
6. Clean history — no spam history and no trademark conflict.

Building on a numeric domain

The strongest move is to give the number a job. A postal code becomes a local guide, a year becomes an events archive, and a number with a famous pattern — like this one — becomes a site about numbers. Developed sites earn traffic and revenue; parked names earn only an offer, if one arrives.
